Cheri was pleased to attend the Shovel In The Ground event for the new Our Lady of Mercy wing of St. Joseph’s Hospital. The new wing will include a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Family Birthing Centre, among other essential services. Cheri would like to give her heartfelt thanks to everyone at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their tireless work in caring for our community.

Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) By now, you have likely heard about Dalton McGuinty’s plan to blend GST and PST into a Harmonized Sales Tax as of July 2010. Clearly, this will affect us all in that most of the goods and services we currently do not pay PST on will now be subject to the full HST percentage, raising the prices by 8% on things from a cup of coffee to gas for your car (or bus) to condo fees, real estate fees, hydro fees, funerals and children’s programs, along with many, many more.Please let your thoughts be known to Dalton McGuinty about this proposed 8% tax hike.
